Privacy Policy — GubbiGo

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how the GubbiGo language-learning app (“we”, “us”) handles information.

GubbiGo does not require you to create an account or sign in with email. We do not operate our own payment or subscription servers. Google Play (and the App Store, if you install GubbiGo on iOS) bill subscriptions. We use RevenueCat only to confirm whether a paid entitlement is active.

2. Summary

Learning progress stays on your device. We do not collect your name, email, or payment card details. We do not show ads. Early lessons are free. A Super subscription (monthly or yearly) unlocks later lessons. Google Play or Apple charges and renews that subscription. RevenueCat tells the app whether Super is active. Expo and our content CDN may be contacted for updates and language packs.

This policy covers:

data stored locally by GubbiGo (including a cached Super / premium flag);
technical and purchase data processed by Google Play, Apple (if applicable), RevenueCat, Expo, and our content host;
auto-renewing subscriptions and restore purchases (no GubbiGo login).

3. Information stored on your device

GubbiGo keeps a local database on your phone or tablet so you can learn offline. This typically includes:

selected learning language;
lesson and exercise progress, scores, and completion status;
XP, streaks, and in-app rewards (such as seeds and collectibles);
downloaded lesson content and audio stored for playback;
a cached Super / premium status (and expiry if known), used so locked lessons stay unlocked offline after a successful check.

Lesson progress is not uploaded to a GubbiGo account, because no such account exists. We do not use on-device learning data to build an advertising profile.

4. Information processed by others

When the app uses the internet, third parties that deliver the service may see ordinary technical data (for example IP address, device and app identifiers, timestamps, and which files were requested). We do not receive your name from these services as part of normal app use.

RevenueCat’s dashboard shows subscription status (active, expired, cancelled, refunded) so we can support paying users. That is purchase / entitlement data, not advertising tracking. We do not currently include advertising, crash-reporting, or general product analytics SDKs. We do not enable advertising identifiers (such as GAID / IDFA) for GubbiGo.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Some lessons are free. Later lessons may require an active Super subscription. Monthly and yearly options both unlock the same Super access; they differ only in price and billing period.

If you subscribe, the store you installed from charges, renews, retries failed payments, and refunds — Google Play on Android, or Apple on iOS. We do not collect, store, or see your payment card number, UPI ID, or store-account password. We do not run Stripe or any other card checkout inside GubbiGo for lessons.

What leaves the device for Super

the store purchase / receipt (handled by Google or Apple);
that receipt plus an anonymous RevenueCat app user ID, product ID, and entitlement status (so the app can trust “Super is active”);
a local Super flag cached in GubbiGo after a successful check, used while you are offline.

We do not send your lesson scores, streak, or which node you finished to Google, Apple, or RevenueCat. The paywall is decided in the app from local progress plus Super status.

Renewal, cancel, restore

Super auto-renews until you cancel in Google Play (or App Store on iOS). Price, period, and auto-renewal are shown on the paywall and again by the store before you pay.
If you cancel, Super stays active until the end of the paid period, then later lessons lock again. Free lessons keep working.
Restore purchases uses the Google or Apple account on the device. You do not need a GubbiGo login. A new phone looks unpaid until you restore (or subscribe again) with that same store account.
A refund or chargeback turns Super off after the store notifies RevenueCat and the app next refreshes entitlement (including on launch when online).

Manage or cancel in the store account, not inside a GubbiGo profile: Google Play subscriptions (Android) or Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions (iOS). Payment details are also covered by the Google Payments Privacy Notice and, where applicable, Apple’s privacy policy.

6. Advertising

GubbiGo does not display third-party advertisements and does not use advertising identifiers for ads. We do not sell your information.

7. Children

GubbiGo is designed so children can learn with a parent or guardian nearby. The app does not include chat, social features, public profiles, or an account sign-up.

We do not knowingly collect a child’s name, email, or other contact details. Lesson progress stays on the device. A parent or guardian should complete Super purchases (Play / App Store authentication and parental controls). Recurring subscriptions are billed to the store account until cancelled there.

RevenueCat still receives an anonymous install ID and purchase receipts when Super is bought or restored. That is not a child’s name, but it is subscription data. We do not use it to profile children for advertising.

If you believe we have received personal information from a child that we should not have, email developer@xlang.in and we will delete it if it is in our control (including asking RevenueCat to delete the corresponding customer record where we can).

8. App permissions

GubbiGo is built to use:

Internet — to download language packs, check for app updates, complete store purchases, restore Super, and refresh entitlement with RevenueCat;
Audio playback — to play lesson and word audio;
Local storage — to keep progress, downloaded content, and the cached Super flag.

GubbiGo does not request microphone, camera, contacts, or precise location permission for these features.

9. Retention and deletion

On-device data: remains until you clear app storage or uninstall GubbiGo. Uninstalling deletes local progress and the cached Super flag. It does not cancel a Super subscription.
Store subscriptions: retained by Google or Apple under their policies. Cancel in the store to stop renewal.
RevenueCat: retains entitlement and receipt metadata for that anonymous (or restored) customer so Super can be checked and restored. If you ask us to delete this, we will request deletion from RevenueCat where the product allows. The store will still have its own purchase record.
CDN / update logs: technical request logs, if any, are retained by Expo or Cloudflare under their policies. We do not keep a GubbiGo user profile (name, email, password) on our servers.

10. Your choices and rights

You can:

use the free lessons without subscribing;
turn off network access; lessons already on the device still work offline;
clear app data or uninstall to remove local progress;
restore Super on another device with the same Google or Apple account;
cancel auto-renewal or request a refund through Google Play or the App Store;
email developer@xlang.in to ask what information we hold or to request deletion of RevenueCat customer data we can control.

Depending on where you live (including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act and, where applicable, GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to withdraw consent. Lesson progress is deleted by clearing app storage or uninstalling. Subscription and receipt data held only by Google, Apple, or RevenueCat is handled under those providers’ tools and policies; we will help where we can.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this page if we add GubbiGo accounts, advertisements, a payment method other than the official stores, extra analytics, or server-gated downloads. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes will also be reflected in the store listing where required.
